New release sale!

Hi guys!

‘Tis the season for holiday stories fa la la la la! And I’ve got two for you this year.

Thrown by Love is a Christmas story featuring a cynical hero & a homemade Secret Santa gift! This will be available as part of a Prolific Works giveaway in December – more details on that soon.

My second is the rerelease of Miracle on Three Kings’ Day. This was originally published as part of the Dreamspinner Press Warmest Wishes Advent collection in 2018. It’s had a light edit and an epilogue included. Oh, and this gorgeous new cover!

Miracle-on-Three-Kings-Day-EBOOKLevi’s family knows he needs to find a way out of his funk and be a part of the world again. His brother, Jesse, invites Levi to join him in sunny Spain for the holidays, but a delay at the airport finds Levi at Jesse’s home while his brother is stranded in Scotland. Luckily Alejandro—Alex—is on hand with a key, a friendly smile, and a willingness to keep Levi company. He might even manage to draw Levi out of his shell for some mutual flirting.

Levi surprises himself when he accepts an invitation to spend New Year’s Eve with Alex at Alex’s café, but is he ready for more when it means jumping back into life feetfirst? Besides, with an ocean between them and Alex hiding a part of his life that Levi isn’t sure he can handle, they’ll need their own Three Kings’ Day miracle to stay together.

What reviewers are saying:

This story is a beautiful dollop of festive joy! I loved everything about this. Beth Laycock’s writing style is engaging and immersive–now I want to visit Spain–and her characterizations had me rooting for both MCs from the very start. Alex and Levi are both so sweet and genuine. My heart is so warmed. This is the perfect feel good holiday romance!”  Goodreads review

“Words can’t say how much I loved this story!

This story is so real and heartwarming, I fell for the characters almost instantly. Beth’s writing style is authentic, deep and endearing. She has set a scene that could be straight out of real like, in all its imperfect glory.

This story follows a troubled and lonely Levi who is accidentally abandoned at his brothers house; alone for the New Year. He is a bit lost and lonely but pushes himself to talk to a wonderfully handsome cafe owner, Alex and sparks ensue. Add in an adorably innocent little girl and you have the makings of a holiday themed treat!

This story is about finding inspiration in unlikely places, pushing past insecurities to have a chance at creating a family you’ve always wanted and finding the person you were meant to be with. This story is loving, short and sweet and will leave you with all the feels of a wonderful holiday romance!!! Highly recommended read 💖💘💕”  Amazon review

Excerpt

Another glance up at the clock showed 8:01 p.m. One minute since I last checked. I had no idea what time this thing started, but if I went now, I could meet Alex while it might not be too busy, then pull a Cinderella before the chaos of the countdown and the awkwardness of watching people try to find someone to kiss while I stood on my own.

I patted my pockets for the third time, checking for my cell, wallet, and key, and with no other excuse to stall, headed out.

A huge tent had been set up outside the café with another bar and was already half-filled with people milling around, drinks in hands. I could do this. Make small talk and whatever. Just had to find people who spoke English.

I’d been standing on the sidewalk just staring when Alex wound his way through the crowd and waved me over. My hands unclenched at the sight of him like some dark angel. Short black hair spiked up on top. Plain black button-down shirt that had to be a couple of sizes too small from the way it stretched across his chest, highlighting every curve and dip of his body. Black trousers that did nothing to hide the bulge of his crotch, and I swallowed, trying to get my dry throat to work. What the hell was I doing there? A hookup wasn’t a great idea. There was nothing wrong with looking, though, right? And an added bonus to find out my libido was still alive.

“Hey. You made it.”

The grin splitting his face made me think he was happy I’d shown up, and I held out my hands. “Yep. Here I am.” Yep. Sounding like a total dork. His gaze slowly worked down my body, and all other thoughts fled. Okay, even I couldn’t miss his reaction. And yeah, I wrote stories for a living, but there wasn’t anything imaginary in that look.

“Yes. Here you are.” He slung an arm around my shoulder and dragged me farther into the tent. “Come on. I’ll get you a drink, then introduce you to a few guys.”

I let myself be swept along by the force that was Alex. Even though I didn’t know him well, his presence soothed my nervousness. Like I wasn’t completely alone in a land that was foreign and strange.

Writer’s Block – A Myth?

IMG_0889

Up until last year I wasn’t convinced writer’s block even existed. But there I was in November happily outlining the novella I’d wanted to write for years. I had a beautiful outline, excel spreadsheet – the works. The problem? Zero motivation to write the story. No idea how to start. My characters would not talk to me. So I put it to one side thinking I’ll come back to it later.

And I started plotting again — * insert evil laugh*  This time my muse took me to Pendle Hill in Lancashire and the witch trials. A shifter story of sorts. I started writing – fantastic. The words were flowing until I hit the halfway mark and stopped dead. My two main characters had been thrust together, but now they were apart, and I had no idea how to get them back together on the page. But, but I’d plotted the story…
Then came 2018 and a move across the continent back to the UK. Once settled into the new house I thought I’d pick up the story again. Nope. Then somehow I stumbled across a submission call on Dreamspinner’s website. No, I couldn’t write for them the little voices of doubt told me, I was just me scribbling away on an iPad in the spare bedroom. But a story idea sparked. I’d just left Spain, just seen my village’s Three Kings’ Day
parade so, why not? I decided to write the story. Told myself I’d decide whether to submit it or not after – just write it. Oh, the joy of flowing words. And then I edited it. And then it was decision time. And I thought the worst they can say is no! Fast forward to the 19th June, and I cried when I received their acceptance e-mail. Me, Beth Laycock, was going to be a published author with Dreamspinner Press!! Fast forward to present day, and it’s less than a month until my debut story is let loose.
